Thoughts on : Premium AppleTV remote Concept
I’d love this if it wasn’t cost-prohibitive. Maybe if they could get the main AppleTV down to a $50 dongle with using the iPhone to control it and then have this thing as the “Premium” AppleTV remote. Google’s Chromecast with Google TV is $50 and includes a physical remote. Roku is the same price or cheaper. I think Apple probably take the current AppleTV 4K and shove it into a similar price range. I think they’re to the point that the revenue from Apple Music + Apple TV+ Apple Fitness + Appel Arcade+ future services like Podcasts or Photos could be the way they make money from the AppleTV going forward. Maybe have the cheap AppleTV ship with no remote and you control it with just the iPhone and then have a AppleTV Touch that come with this fancy remote. Heck, I could see them even shipping the old metal AppleTV remote with the basic AppleTV and that being enough for most people. I doubt most people use the Siri button on the remote beyond Apple fans aka the people who would be willing to pay a premium for this really cool remote option.
