Popular YouTuber Says Apple Won’t Fix His iMac Pro, But Disassembly Violated Apple’s Repair Policy
I watched his video last night. I think its reasonable for Apple to turn down repairing the machine. People want to think of Apple as some large monolith machine, but ultimately some repair tech is going to have to sign off on the repairs. I wouldn’t want the pressure to know that whatever work I do on to repair the iMac Pro could reflect badly on the company if Linus does another video down the road about it or tweets about it. The normal iMac is already a difficult and expensive machine to work on and I can only imagine the iMac Pro is not far off that mark. I understand where Linus is coming from and I really think Apple should make the parts and manuals to fix their products more openly available. Apple wants to tout their eco-friendly policies. I find it really wasteful for them not to encourage the repair of their products to the furthest possible extent.
