Fantastic Friday Read “Apple’s Killing the Password. Here’s Everything You Need to Know”

This is a really good read to explain to a new initiative from Apple called passkey that allows you to log into apps and websites without have to create, memorize, or store the password. This is a standard that Apple is implementing with FIDO with Google and Microsoft to try to eliminate as many passwords as they can. Password Managers will also be able to store these passkeys as well so you will not be locked into just one hardware ecosystem. Apple’s version is storing the data in iCloud Keychain to sync it across multiple devices, but they can also be shared via Airdrop. I think its a pretty cool technology that will hopefully be more useful in the future as more Apps and Websites adopt it. Something to keep your eye on for sure.
